Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o has announced his retirement from professional football. Eto’o called time on his career after his last stint with Doha based Qatar sports club. The 38-year-old brings his glittering career to an end, a career that spans 22 years and accumulated several trophies both individual and collectively. The major trophies he won in his career came are 3 UEFA Champions Leagues with Barcelona and Inter and 2 AFCON titles.
The Cameroon legend is his country’s all-time top scorer. He has 56 goals to his name in 118 international matches. He has scored over 350 goals in his long and distinguished club career. Samuel Eto’o won the African Player of the Year award 4 times.

The World Cup Qualifications, Africa for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar has begun already.
Comoros drew 1 all with Togo. Angola also posted a 1 nil win over Gambia. Today the World Cup qualifications continue with Botswana facing Malawi.

In the world of tennis, the US Open championship is ongoing and has gotten to the final stage. Serena Williams and Bianca Andreescu are featuring in this year’s women final while Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev will be competing in the men’s final.
Serena Williams meets Bianca Andreescu in the final today at 8pm after she defeated Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in the semi-final. Williams aged 37 will be hoping to win a record-equaling 24th grand slam singles title.
Rafael Nadal will be competing in this year’s US Open final after overcoming Italian Matteo Berrettini in the semi-finals. Nadal aged 33 and known as King of the Clay will be hoping to win his 4th title in New York and 19th overall grand slam singles title.
